Why Live Like a Wildflower

“Just a wild rambling rose seeking mysteries untold.
No regret for the path that I chose.
When a flower grows wild it can always survive.
Wildflowers don’t care where they grow!” -Dolly Parton
I’d consider myself a wildflower
I believe that no matter what situation I am in or where I go and live I will grow. I refuse to let myself stay stagnant or move backwards in my progress in life, friendships, health, and my relationship with God.
Progress in these things looks very different for many people and I for one have had a hard time not staying stagnant in them. But if you’re staying stagnant and not actively seeking growth what’s the point of doing it? That’s what I believe at least.
I, for being young, still have been through a lot and done a lot of things. I have found things I enjoy and things that I dislike and things that are kind of in the middle of love and dislike.
That’s what this blog is here to serve as.
As a place where I can tell stories of things I have been through, to give advice for moving forward in life, and finding what makes you passionate. It will also serve as a place where I can talk about my passions and things/ hobbies that I enjoy. Sometimes it might be a whole post about what I think is the best gear for skiing, or the best budget hiking stuff, etc.
I want this to be a safe place people can go to help in life but also a place where I can give my not-so-professional opinion on skiing, hiking, art, life, moving, and God.
Let’s chat about some of these things
God- God is the most important part of my life. My relationship with him comes first and foremost in my life. My relationship with Him has shaped me into who I am. He created me for such a time as this!
Skiing- Skiing is my FAVORITE thing! I love skiing and learning everything I can about it. My dad is a ski patroller so I have gotten to be up close to some amazing skiers right when I was starting to ski last season (2022-2023 season). For being a new skier I have learned very quickly; however, I still have a lot to learn still… like A LOT. Despite having a lot to learn it is one of my favorite things to do. As well as, something I am very passionate about so I want to be able to talk about it and maybe help some of you get into it or give you recommendations on gear or such.
Hiking- I enjoy hiking when I have time which right now isn’t a whole lot. I was an avid runner when I was younger and after a couple diagnoses running wasn’t as possible, so I started hiking. I want to get into backpacking eventually hopefully in the next year or so.
Moving- Between 2 years of apartments for college, to 3 years of living in a dorm for a seasonal job, to now moving across the country. I have learned a lot about how to move my life from place to place and what things work and what doesn’t and I want to be able to share that with Yall
SO WHAT
So if any of this interests you or you just want a glimpse into the craziness of someone else’s life. WELCOME! My life is crazy and sometimes a HOT MESS and I would love to share it with you and maybe it’ll make you feel less crazy or maybe give you more perspective into others’ lives. Either way you are welcome here.
WHO AM I
So with all that being said if you got this far whether you skimmed or what. I am Stephanie, I am 22 as of 2023. I grew up in the Midwest in Illinois and Wisconsin. Now I am cross country from that on the Oregon Coast (which I love). Obviously there is a very big difference between the Midwest and Oregon coast, but I and others have verified that I adapt very quickly.
I made this move cross country after I graduated from City First Leadership College in Illinois. I graduated with a Diploma of Ministerial Commissioning which is just kind of the fancy way of saying I have a lot of experience running a ministry and that’s what I trained to do in College. I trained under pastors and church leaders who trained me and I learned a lot from them. I took what I learned there at CFLC and have now taken it to Oregon and to camp ministry. But that’s just a brief rundown of who I am and what I want this blog to be. I hope you stick around and are able to learn something. :)
